More than 320 million visitors have attended entertainment events and activities across the Kingdom in less than a decade, with more than 60 entertainment seasons and programs organized during this period.
Saudi Arabia’s entertainment sector is characterized by a growing shift from isolated events toward a connected ecosystem, as the Kingdom positions itself as a year-round destination for tourism, investment, and world-class events.
A Larger Market and a Broader Business Ecosystem
The scale of activity in Saudi Arabia’s entertainment sector continues to grow, with private-sector companies playing a key role in its expansion.
In 2025, 6,778 companies participated in entertainment-sector activities, while the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) issued 6,490 licenses. This momentum continued into 2026, with the number of companies operating in the entertainment sector exceeding 7,200 in the first half of the year.
As the number of businesses and activities grows, so does the need for a regulatory framework that can accommodate the sector’s expanding scale and complexity. In June 2026, the Saudi Cabinet approved the Entertainment Activities and Supporting Activities Regulation, establishing an integrated framework for organizing and developing entertainment and supporting activities.
The regulation is developing alongside the physical infrastructure needed to support the sector’s growth. Saudi is also expanding its network of purpose-built venues and entertainment destinations to accommodate rising demand.
In 2025, 472 entertainment destinations were licensed, compared with 422 the previous year, bringing the total number of active entertainment destinations to 975.
The expansion of this ecosystem creates opportunities beyond the entertainment experiences themselves. As venues, destinations, and activities become more diverse, demand is also growing for the specialized services, technology, infrastructure, and operational capabilities needed to support them.
In a market like Saudi Arabia, the opportunity is therefore increasingly found not only inside the entertainment experience but across the wider ecosystem that enables it.
Global Companies Are Bringing New Capabilities to Saudi Arabia’s Entertainment Market
The expansion of Saudi Arabia’s entertainment ecosystem is also attracting a growing range of international companies across an increasingly diverse set of specializations, creating new entry points into the market.
One example is Catapult, the global live experience agency, which expanded into Saudi Arabia with AstroLabs in 2026. The company brings experience in live events, brand activations, exhibitions, and conferences, having worked with global brands and major sporting organizations.
Its expansion comes as Saudi hosts an increasing number of international sporting and entertainment events, creating demand for companies that can design and deliver the experiences surrounding them—from fan engagement to brand activations.
At the same time, the Kingdom is attracting companies developing entirely new entertainment formats. Intercontinental Sustainable Racing (ISR), a Finnish sports entertainment media company, established a Riyadh entity in 2026 to develop and commercialize its esports auto-racing platform.
Its model brings together esports, motorsport, media, sponsorship, and destination experiences, with Saudi Arabia serving as a launch and production hub for its global rollout.
The convergence of entertainment, sports, media, and tourism is also opening new avenues for international companies seeking to set up a business in the Kingdom.
The market is creating space not only for companies that operate entertainment destinations or produce events, but also for businesses that can develop new formats, connect entertainment with technology and media, and help global brands participate in the Kingdom’s expanding calendar.
